When assessing software options for your digital community, chances are it has been written by someone who has never moderated professionally. You might have lots of functions to choose from, not all of which are as useful as they may seem.

Another issue is that it may reduce your page impressions slightly, as users who did want to locate someone else wouldn’t have to look at multiple recent topics to find them. It’s not the sort of functionality users ever seem to request, and if they do they tend to just want a full search function rather than this.
